Hitachi Data Systems Introduces New Solutions and Capabilities for Mainframe Customers

Active Flash and Mainframe Analytics Recorder Among New Features

Since its introduction in early 2014 work has continued on improving the Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform G1000 (VSP G1000) mainframe storage capabilities.   Next week we are going to be at SHARE conference in Orlando, Florida with several announcements around the VSP G1000s latest new mainframe storage features and packages, all available or to be available in late August 2015.

·Active Flash: This new Hitachi Dynamic Tiering feature accelerates performance with promotions to flash at real-time speeds, maximizing the efficiency of installed flash.

·Mainframe Analytics Recorder: This new Storage Virtualization Operating System feature provides detailed, time-coherent VSP G1000 performance information in standard SMF record format for use by mainframe analytics tools. Maximizing mainframe systems use requires detailed performance information and now, the VSP G1000 supports native SMF performance reporting for easy “whole system” mainframe analysis.

·16-port 16Gbps IBM® FICON® card hardware options: These short- or long-wave configurations enable high-speed, cost-efficient connections.

·Significant Compatible Software for IBM® FlashCopy® and FlashCopy SE performance improvements: These enhancements are accomplished with Hitachi Thin Image copy-after-write technology.

·Small-system, preconfigured VSP G1000 mainframe storage packages: Starting at 2TB, these aggressively priced packages are available from HDS direct sales and also through select Hitachi TrueNorth Partners.

Come see us at SHARE booth #406 and hear Roberto Basilio (VP, IT Infrastructure Platforms Product Management) speak on "Informaiton Growth, Challenge or Opportunity for Mainframe Storage User" on Monday August 10, 2015 from 11:15 to 12:15.
