Hello Jinhu, such a question is not for the "NAS community" - you should really open a case with the GSC to ask for assistance to help guide you thru whatever is occurring. I see you have an "active" in SalesForce, so this is the best way to proceed. ------------------------------ Albert Hagopian Hitachi ...

Apologies, for some reason I lost access to this forum and hopefully am now back to receiving mails. When a DPVol is presented to the VSP One File 30, the server inventories the SD and knows the capacity of the DPVol. As part of this, a signature is written to each DPVol (this is CoD) and thus "expansion" ...

Hello Abhishek - have you logged into TISC and download HDRS manuals (there are several). I have a hard time with SupportConnect so I prefer to use TISC. Please download those documents (voluminous) to get an idea of the solution. automated install of GAD, configures DPVols into GAD pairs and presents ...

Please forgive me ChangHyun, but the NAS engineering team has little current knowledge/usage of HUR. At one point in the distant past, HUR was used (on occasion), but by and large at this juncture HUR (to HNAS) is a tool of the distant past. On occasions there have been use cases that would involve ...

The limits of the GEfN solution is governed by GAD - please feel free to read thru one of files on SupportConnect, one of which is the following:  https://docs.hitachivantara.com/v/u/en-us/disaster-recovery-solution/6.0.x/mk-97hdrs003 Until now, I know HIS hasn't been involved in a GEfN solution ...

Hello Miran,  I'm sure one of you wonderful Global Delivery folks you've worked with could assist in this conversation, but I'm unable to tag them here for awareness. What they would tell you is that filesystems are no shrinkable and thus neither is a span. Below is an example of what I ...

No it is not. HNAS supports Hitachi storage arrays exclusively. In bygone days (well over a decade ago, dating back to pre-Hitachi days of the product), the server supported 3rd party arrays - but they were thru OEM relationships and it wasn't just "any vendor".

The presumption you are making is that drive code on Seagate xxxx is the same for very vendor/OEM (which it's not). Most OEM's (including Hitachi) have specific code along with vendor identification in that code (so you can't insert a drive purchased off yahoo.com). Some vendors may not follow that mantra ...

These type of events are not uncommon and provide support/engineering insight into the system. Unfortunately yes, the logs can get chatty and cause confusion as most(if not all) field or customers won't know what to do with such a message.  Feel free to log into the CLI and run the command "trouble", ...

Zamzam, you posted this in the wrong channel - this is Network Attached Storage (NAS) - you should post to "Flash Storage" community to receive more info. There are processes such as ADC documented in the applicable Maintenance Manual. Unfortunately, I don't see you listed as an active individual within ...

Hello Kwon, I see you listed in SalesForce and am copying my teammate @Namsoo Kim so he can work directly with you. Generally speaking filesystems should never become full, they usually auto expand - so your environments should be revisited. If/when a filesystem become full, it will not fail, but incoming ...

This is available on Hitachi TISC (which is internal), but should also be available on Support Connect. Support Home > Answers > Downloads, select Hardware Downloads, then select HNAS 5000. Once there, click on the the drop-down to see "Add-ons" and you will find the file. https://suppor ...

One of the mechanisms that can be used is the CLI command "fs-analyze-data-usage", but this command takes some time to execute, especially if the filesystem in question is on the larger side (there is not a definition of "larger"). Feel free to read the details on the man page. ------------------------------ ...

Venkatesvara, if you are experiencing a performance issue, please open a case with GSC and they will guide you in the investigation. You can generate a PIR (via the CLI, see the man page for 'pir') against the filesystem or node; PIR does not execute against ViVol nor are there metrics using ViVols. ...

We certainly hear and understand the need for non-NDMP based backup using snapshots. Many of our acct teams are aware of this need, for obvious reasons and the topic is making its way up the roadmap of priorities - but it is a heavy lift. D-NAS has been used but does not function in the manner ...

Abhishek, our Product Manager is providing the following information on the topic. What is SMB barring?  It is a highly requested customer feature that was introduced with HNAS OS 13.9.  This feature enable administrator to maintain a list of rogue client IP addresses that are barred from SMB/SMB2.x/SMB3 ...

Andy, I spoke to our HNAS global GSC lead and you presume correctly, FQDN would do it and help you out with option "C". (exclusively authenticating SMB clients with Kerberos would eliminate auto-barring woes) Caveat emptor - based on other customer escalations, even using FQDN UNC paths still isn't ...
